Most of my clients start their SAT prep between three to five months before their official testing date. In order to ensure that a student will score a 700 or higher on the English section, I generally require between ten to sixteen 60-minute sessions.
Students receive skill exercises after every session that are tailored to their unique needs. Based on the most recent diagnostic information, I provide students with take-home work that will address the areas in which they need the most improvement.
On average, my students see a 100-point increase on the SAT English portion after participating in the 12-session program.
The SAT is a unique kind of exam. Most students (and tutors) ignore the aspect of the SAT that makes it so different from the tests that we typically take in school — the SAT is actively trying to lure you away from the right answers by asking confusing questions and offering trap answer choices. I teach my clients how to identify these SAT traps so that they can approach the test with confidence and achieve their maximum score.
In order to gauge student progress, I utilize a number of practice test resources: official College Board Bluebook Practice Tests, The Princeton Review practice tests, One Prep and Blue Prep. I also provide students with access to extensive SAT question banks, unique skill exercises, and more.
If a student needs to cancel or reschedule a tutoring session, I require 24 hours notice. Sessions canceled in under 24 hours will be subject to a fee equal to the full cost of the session.
